Travelers want more mobile options: A new study published by Cornell’s Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) found travelers are ready to use their smartphones and tablets for far more than is currently possible. The study of 754 U.S. travelers also discovered privacy remains a concern — even though many travelers are willing to share personal information in exchange for special offers and services.

Former Hilton Garden Inn to become full-service Hilton: Hilton Worldwide and HRI Lodging announced the conversion of Hilton Garden Inn Richmond Downtown in Richmond, Virginia, to a full-service Hilton Hotels & Resorts property by the end of 2015. The New Orleans-based owner, HRI Properties, will oversee a US$11.5 million dollar transformation of the hotel, which is housed in the former Miller & Rhoads department store.

 


JLL projects increase in Saudi Arabia hotel rooms: A new report published by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) said the major cities of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh and Jeddah, are forecast to see an increase of 16,000 new hotel rooms by 2018. Of these, more than 50% will be part of new 5-star hotel developments.
