News in brief: Langham, Tao Group, Eastin

Langham to open in Hefei, China: Langham Hospitality Group announced an agreement with Anhui Land Investment Co. to develop and manage The Langham, Hefei. Scheduled to open in 2016, the 338-room hotel will feature interiors designed by Bilkey Llinas Design.

 


Tao Group developing first hotel: The partners behind the Tao Group restaurant and nightclub empire are developing a new 23-story Tao-branded hotel, expected to be complete next summer, in New York City’s Meatpacking District.

Eastin to enter Indonesia: Absolute Hotel Services Group announced plans for its first Eastin hotel in Indonesia. The 102-room Eastin Hotel Canggu Bali is set to open in early 2017.

 


Hyatt Place, Hyatt House planned for Jeddah: Hyatt Hotels Corp. announced a Hyatt affiliate has entered into an agreement with Abdulelah Mohammed Ali Maghrabi Commercial Est. for a Hyatt Place hotel and a Hyatt House hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The 182-room Hyatt Place Jeddah/Medina Road is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2017, and the 104-room Hyatt House Jeddah/Sari Street is slated to debut in the fourth quarter of 2016. The hotels will be within 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) of each other and will be designed by Dubai-based Samuel Creations.

 


Marriott in downtown Oakland, California, sold: The 489-room Oakland Marriott City Center was recently sold by the CIM Group to a private investment group that includes DiNapoli Capital Partners and Apollo Global Management.

StayWell in dispute over management agreements: Australia-based StayWell Hospitality Group is disputing action by New Zealand’s CP Group over the management of five hotels in New Zealand.
