Onyx to expand in China: Onyx Hospitality Group announced two new management contracts in China. Shama Caojiadu Shanghai will mark the first cooperation with Shanghai Bao Shun Investment Company Limited. The property will feature 168 units and is scheduled to open in 2017. Ozo Shishi Xiamen is a management agreement signed with Shishi Minnan Golden Coast Resort Company Limited. The hotel will feature 213 rooms and is expected to begin operation by 2017.

 


Carey Watermark acquires Philadelphia hotel in JV: Carey Watermark Investors announced it has acquired a majority interest in the 299-room Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia in a joint venture with Philadelphia Hospitality Partners, the owner of the property.

Wyndham Hotel Group to manage new Dolce hotel in Ohio: Wyndham Hotel Group announced it has entered into an agreement to brand and manage a new-construction hotel and conference center near Cincinnati, Ohio, under its Dolce Hotels and Resorts flag. The 217-room hotel is being developed by RBM Development Co. in Madisonville, Ohio, and will be operated by Wyndham Hotel Group’s management arm. Scheduled to open in 2017, it will be part of a US$124 million mixed-use development known as Madison Center.

 


Apple Leisure Group to grow in Dominican Republic: Apple Leisure Group subsidiary AMResorts will increase its presence in the Dominican Republic with Now Onyx Punta Cana, the company’s third new resort management deal in the country in 2015. The 500-room Now Onyx Punta Cana will break ground June 1 and is scheduled to open in November 2016.

Waramaug acquires 6 Fairfield properties: Waramaug LS Hotels announced the acquisition of six Fairfield Inn by Marriott hotels totaling 696 rooms located throughout New England. The portfolio is comprised of Fairfield Inn Burlington in Williston, Vermont; Fairfield Inn Portsmouth Seacoast in Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Fairfield Inn, Amesbury, Massachusetts; Fairfield Inn Boston Woburn Burlington in Woburn, Massachusetts; Fairfield Inn Boston Tewksbury Andover in Tewksbury, Massachusetts; and Fairfield Inn New Haven in Wallingford, Connecticut.

 


Apple Hospitality REIT begins trading on NYSE: Apple Hospitality REIT announced its common shares have been listed and have begun trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “APLE.”
