Sheraton to enter Myanmar: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced its market debut in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar with the signing of the new-build Sheraton Yangon Hotel. Owned by Family Business Group Hotel Limited, the 375-room hotel is scheduled to open in 2017.

Commune announces L.A. hotels: Commune Hotels & Resorts announced plans for two new-build hotels in Los Angeles, the 200-room Thompson Hollywood and Tommie Hollywood. Both projects are being led by an unnamed private developer and are expected to open in 2017.

 


Pandox to list shares in Stockholm: Swedish hotel company Pandox said it plans to list its shares on the Stockholm stock exchange this year. Pandox owns hotel properties in eight countries.

Dallas hotel sold: The Belmont Hotel, which first opened in 1947, is being sold by Monte Anderson to Dallas-based Behringer Lodging Group.

Plans unveiled for Iowa hotel: The US$42 million, 114-room Merrill Hotel and Conference Center in Muscatine, Iowa, is scheduled to be completed in 2017.

AWH Partners acquires Florida hotel: AWH Partners, in partnership with Building and Land Technology, announced the off-market acquisition of the 1,004-room DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at Sea World. AWH Development will oversee renovations at the property, and Spire Hospitality will manage operations under a franchise agreement with Hilton Worldwide.
