Commune adds Alila to portfolio

Commune Hotels & Resorts has added Singapore-based Alila Hotels and Resorts to its portfolio of boutique hotel brands. Alila will be Commune’s fourth brand, joining Joie de Vivre Hotels, Thompson Hotels and Tommie.

“Asia is an incredibly influential and promising travel market with tremendous growth potential for Commune,” said Niki Leondakis, CEO of Commune. “Alila has a strong foothold in the region with world-class hotels and a commitment to guest service that’s nothing short of exceptional, all of which creates significant opportunity for Commune’s existing hotels and future development internationally.”

Alila’s corporate office will become the regional office of Commune Hotels & Resorts in Asia. The Alila corporate entity will be Commune Hotels & Resorts. Each Alila property will retain its name. “We are keeping the integrity of this jewel of a brand and only see the partnership as a value add to the owners of the hotels,” said Leondakis.

“The value of the two companies together is greater than two separate entities,” added Frederic Flageat-Simon, former CEO of Alila and new CEO-Asia of Commune Hotels & Resorts. Flageat-Simon will oversee the Singapore-based executive team and manage the Commune portfolio in Asia. “The combination of Alila’s footprint and experience in Asia — combined with the infrastructure, resources and global reputation of Commune — will mean a winning guest experience for more people around the world.”
