Starwood invests in The Luxury Collection: In coordination with its owner partners, Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced a US$300 million effort to expand and improve The Luxury Collection in North America. The Luxury Collection is on track to surpass 100 hotels in more than 30 countries by the end of 2015.

Sotherly grows in Florida: Southerly Hotels has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the remaining 75% interest in the entities that own the 311-room Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach Resort in Florida. The Company currently owns a 25% non-controlling interest in the hotel through a joint venture with an affiliate of The Carlyle Group.

Hyatt acquires Uruguay resort: An affiliate of Hyatt Hotels Corp. has entered into a franchise agreement with Hotel Corp. Uruguay, S.A., for Carmelo Resort & Spa n Uruguay. The resort was formerly managed by Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts.

Millennium & Copthorne expand in Saudi Arabia: Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, Middle East and Africa have signed four new hotels in Saudi Arabia with Taiba Holding Co. The hotels are the 208-key Millennium Taiba Hotel Madina, 484-key Millennium Al Aqeeq Hotel Madinah, 299-key Grand Millennium Hotel Madinah and a Biltmore brand hotel in Riyadh.

Myanmar hotel collapse kills two, injures dozens: Two people were killed and dozens were injured as a result of a scaffolding collapse at the construction site of the new Pullman Hotel in Myanmar. The collapse occurred on June 20 and a spokeswoman for Accorhotels says the company is seeking further information on the incident.
