Saudi women can now become hotel chefs

Departing from long-standing policy, the Ministry of Labor in Jeddah has decided to allow Saudi women to become chefs at hotels in the Kingdom, according to Arab News.

Many Saudi women, subject to some of the most rigid restrictions in the world, have become famous for preparing food, with several posting their creations on social networking sites as well as starting their own food-production and delivery businesses.

Hotels have become accustomed to recruiting foreign chefs because of their experience in producing cuisine from nations across the world. However, one local hotel owner said hotels in the Kingdom that prefer local food can benefit from the services of Saudi women.
