What’s Hot: Mandarin Oriental debuts new spaces

Not every project has to be a multimillion-dollar renovation or overhaul to make a “wow” statement. Just one beautifully reimagined or new area can pack a powerful punch, whether it’s a restaurant, meeting space or unusual offer like an art gallery.

For the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, Mandarin Oriental Prague and Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas, those were exactly the spaces that got the attention. Strong architectural details lend interest to Prague’s Spices restaurant. Patterned carpets bring new detail to the meeting rooms in Kuala Lumpur, drawing the eye down. In the art gallery at the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas, a comfortable-looking neutral sofa gives the white space a more inviting vibe.

These kinds of spaces might not boast the flash of their lobby and bar counterparts, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t perfect targets for designers looking to add that little extra punch to a hotel. Consider it the Easter egg of design.
