Rosewood to debut in South America

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will open Rosewood São Paulo in Brazil. Scheduled to open in 2018, the historic building, formerly a maternity hospital, will be Rosewood’s first South American property.

The site is being developed by longtime entrepreneur Alexandre Allard. The design team includes Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, designer Philippe Starck, and artists Beatriz Milhazes and Saint-Clare Cemin.

In addition to Rosewood São Paulo’s 151 guestrooms and 114 owners’ suites, the property will feature two restaurants, two swimming pools, a spa and fitness center.

“Rosewood has been waiting for the right opportunity to enter South America and I firmly believe this is it,” says Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group. “We are excited to give this landmark building a new lease of life and that it will continue to be a place of joy and celebration.”

Rosewood’s debut in South America is part of a larger global expansion for the company, which includes 13 new hotels under development around the world.
