Steigenberger to enter London market

Galliard Homes and Lulu Group International appointed Steigenberger Hotel Group to operate The Great Scotland Yard Hotel in London scheduled to open in 2017. Steigenberger will operate the hotel under its Signature brand, marking its entry into the London hotel market.

The original Scotland Yard police station will be transformed into a 5-star luxury hotel under a £110 million (US$171.26 million) deal under Galliard Homes. Although Galliard acquired the lease in December 2013, it recently just secured the backing of LuLu Group to open the Great Scotland Yard Hotel.

“Our vision is to create an outstanding 5-star hotel drawing on our reputation for quality and service combined with the outstanding central location, grand architecture and fascinating history of Great Scotland Yard,” said Puneet Chhatwal, CEO of Steigenberger, in a written statement.
