IHG rumors continue to swirl

IHG may make a bid for FRHI Hotels & Resorts or Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, according to published reports.

FRHI, which some estimate could command up to US$3 billion in a sale, has been on the block since earlier this summer, with Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley hired to market the company.

Rumors about a potential sale also have surrounded Mövenpick. Saudi Prince Alwaleed’s Kingdom Holding Co. is an owner of both companies.

This latest rumor about IHG comes on the heels of reports last week that the company was in merger talks with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. Reports over the past few days indicated regulatory issues have put a stop to those discussions.
