Starwood grows Tribute Portfolio: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Wroldwide has added the Riviera Palm Springs in California to its Tribute Portfolio. The property will undergo a multi-million dollar upgrade, including the addition of a new pool bar, wedding pavilion and enhanced lobby, prior to its debut in November.

Hotel unions propose Airbnb regulations: Hotel workers in Washington, D.C., have propose some of the strictest Airbnb regulations in the U.S. One bill, backed by a large hotel workers union, would ban the rental of whole units without the owner or occupant being present, and prevent hosts from renting out more than one unit at a time. It would also create special enforcement division within the District’s Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs to conduct inspections to sue for violations.

Lexington to build in Florida: Lexington by Vantage will build a 158-room Lexington Inn & Suites in Dania Beach, Florida. The hotel will be owned by a Vantage Hospitality affiliate.
