Hot Openings: Le Méridien debuts resort in India

Nestled in the scenic Western Ghats in India, the new Le Méridien Mahabaleshwar Resort & Spa is a few hours’ drive from the city centers of Mumbai and Pune, and offers guests a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Opening this week, the property is Le Méridien’s first resort in India and is the brand’s ninth in the country.

The resort features 122 guestrooms and suites, all of which offer private balconies with expansive views. The lobby includes a 24-hour curated soundtrack by French Bossa Nova band Nouvelle Vague, coffee prepared by master baristas, and sparkling cocktails.

On-site dining options include Latest Recipe, an interactive all-day restaurant featuring international, Asian and other local cuisine; Chingari, an Indian specialty restaurant that serves dishes from Northern India; Plunge Bar, a pool-side restaurant serving canapés and spirits; and Longitude 73, a casual coffee house by day and a “vibrant social scene” by night.

Other notable amenities at the resort include an infinity pool, leisure pool and spa.

“Le Méridien and India share a passion for culture, the arts and cuisine,” said Brian Povinelli, global brand leader for Le Méridien and Westin. “As our first Le Méridien resort in India, we look forward to inviting our creative and curious-minded travelers to unlock the destination through our locally-inspired programming, culinary creations and, of course, relaxation.”
