Earlier in 2015, Highgate Hotels opened The Gates Hotel Key West in Florida, combining refined luxury, modern design and a regionally inspired food and beverages program. Through the independent hotel’s partnerships with local artisans and brands, the former Quality Inn strives to offer an authentic Key West experience to guests.
The hotel’s lobby features a unique wall of pecky cypress, light woods, and a community table. Guestrooms mix rustic with modern elements with exposed whitewashed beams, custom platform beds of hand-washed cypress, petrified wood tables imported from Bali, and hand-selected rugs.
Inspired by the Prohibition Era, Rum Row is a contemporary rum bar and small plates café serving creative craft cocktails and tapas-style entrees. Through partnerships with local Key West First Legal Rum Distillery and Rodriguez Cigar Factory guests can participate in exclusive events at the hotel.
Another dining option is The Bling Pig, a new Key West food truck that is permanently parked at the hotel. Dishes include “conch fusion” small bites and tapas inspired by Key West’s Cuban, Bahamian, Caribbean and Floridian roots.
