Hot Openings: Boutique celebrates Brooklyn’s style

Situated between Brooklyn’s bustling Crown Heights and Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhoods, the 34-room Brooklyn A Hotel’s design is inspired by its artistic surroundings. Operated by Real Hospitality Group, Ocean City, Maryland, the industrial space turned boutique hotel emanates an elegant yet edgy vibe with its unique textures, colors and artwork.

The former industrial space opened as The Brooklyn A Hotel in September.

To celebrate the hotel’s location, the property’s design firm, Espacios Design Studio, an independent firm located in nearby Long Island City, commissioned photographs of the borough from Brooklyn-based printer Brian Merlis. The images span historic shots of the Brooklyn Bridge, in addition to as contemporary streetscapes and landmarks.

The lobby, where guests are served La Colombe coffee, has cobblestone floors, original wood columns and a statement chandelier composed of asymmetrical metallic blades and glittering silver chains.  The lobby bar is outfitted in Colombian walnut wood with green sustainable velvet-like upholstered furniture, a communal table made from black basalt stone and porcelain hexagonal tiles by Settecento adorning the walls. Opening in early 2016, the hotel will also operate a restaurant and rooftop bar.

All guestrooms and suites offer complimentary Wi-Fi, Nespresso machines and flat screen televisions. Oversized guest bathrooms feature white Porcelanosa tiles and gray recycled porcelain tiles from Piemmegres, rain showers and custom accent tiles from Brooklyn’s Lazer Marble.
