IHG develops another dual-branded hotel: Noble Investment Group and IHG announced a joint venture to develop a dual-branded Even Hotels and Staybridge Suites hotel in Seattle. The nine-story building is expected to open in mid-2017 and will be the first Even Hotels property on the US West Coast.

IHG grows German portfolio: IHG has signed four Holiday Inn Express hotels in Germany. The 163-room Holiday Inn Express Wuppertal – Hauptbahnhof will open in 2017, the 158-room Holiday Inn Express Trier will open in 2018, the 127-room Holiday Inn Express Hannover City – Hauptbahnhof will open in 2017, and the 162-room Holiday Inn Express® Frankfurt City – Westend will open in 2017.

Destination expands in Colorado: Destination Hotels will assume management of the Christiana Lodge in Vail, Colorado. The historic Bavarian-styled property will join Destination’s vacation rental portfolio.

 


Hong Kong hoteliers express caution: Hong Kong hoteliers are urging the government not to rely on mainland Chinese tourists to save slumping hospitality. Michael Li Hon-shing, executive director of the Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners, suggested not only drawing overseas tourists to the city, but also targeting business travelers and exhibitors, and even turning Hong Kong into an “examination hub.” “When students cross the border come to sit examinations like the SAT or TOEFL, their parents would probably come along and stay for a couple of nights for education seminars as well,” Li said.
