Gaw Capital buys Singapore’s Big Hotel: Gaw Capital Partners purchased the Big Hotel at Middle Road in Singapore for S$203 million (US$143.65 million). Local developer Andy Ong, who converted the 8,800 square meter (94,657 square foot) property from an office block, first began marketing the hotel for sale through Colliers in July 2013.

Starwood to debut Aloft in Shanghai: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide signed an agreement with Shanghai Hongtai Industry Development Co., Ltd. to debut its Aloft brand in Shanghai. Slated to open in 2018, Aloft Shanghai Nanxiang will feature 210 loft-inspired guestrooms and suites.

Marriott adds second hotel in Haiti: The Habitation Jouissant boutique hotel in Cap-Haitien, Haiti, will join the Autograph Collection in the fourth quarter 2017. The property will be Autograph’s third hotel in the Caribbean and Marriott International’s second hotel in Haiti.

Marriott develops Asia Pacific: Marriott International’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. and YTL Hotels have signed an agreement for the development of The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui in Thailand, and a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Japan’s Niseko Village.

Choice signs in Philadelphia: Choice Hotels International signed an agreement with franchise partner Pearl Properties to develop a new Cambria Hotels & Suites in Philadelphia. The 206-room hotel is expected to open in 2017.

Adina to debut in Munich: The first Adina Apartment Hotel in Munich will open in 2019. Construction is set to begin in early 2017 and the development will be the biggest Adina Hotel in Europe with a total of 234 studios and apartments.
