What’s Hot: New signature suites at Radisson Blu Cologne

A trio of new hotel suites created by JOI-Design on the top level of the Radisson Blu Cologne in Germany were unveiled earlier this month. Each of the concepts was designed in partnership with Wohindee, a German lifestyle interiors journal. Intended to have distinct personalities tailored to the varying lifestyles and tastes of today’s hotel guests, the suites embody three themes: Bohemian Loft, Natural Bliss and Urban Retro.

Bohemian Loft suites are designed to be unconventional, artful and edgy, featuring a vibrant mix of intense flashes of color and flamboyant patterns. Bold cushion fabrics, a chaise lounge upholstered in a zebra print, and a mustard-hued velvet pouf suggest the creative atmosphere of an artist’s studio. Separating the sleeping and bathing areas is a grey diamond patterned sliding door mounted onto an industrial feeling track.

Natural Bliss suites were designed with an airy, grassy green color palate. Materials including timber, wicker and leather complement sot linens and woven knits. The entire suite is aimed to provide “nurturing comfort” and promote wellness. Banana-leaf wallcoverings and cushions with floral motifs emphasize natural connections as gently rounded forms help set the mood of a stylish oasis for relaxation.

Urban Retro suites combine mid-century modern décor with Scandinavian chic. Designed for “metropolitan connoisseurs,” the suites’ dark timber floor, muted colors and curved furnishings are juxtaposed with quirky accessories like the colorful scatter tables and assorted vases. The bathrooms are intended to resemble soothing spas and include floor-level rain showers and free-standing bathtubs.
