Hyatt Centric expands internationally: Hyatt Hotels Corp. announced the expansion of the Hyatt Centric brand with the first international Hyatt Centric hotel slated to open later this year in Montevideo, Uruguay. Hyatt also announced the development of Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo expected to open in 2018.

Langham to open new hotels: Langham Hotels & Resorts will open three new hotels in the U.S.: Langham Place, Wade Park in Frisco, Texas (opening in 2018); Langham Place, San Francisco (opening in 2019); The Langham, Bishop’s Lodge Santa Fe in New Mexico (opening in spring 2018).

 


Starwood, TripAdvisor partnership: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and TripAdvisor have partnered to make Starwood’s hotel portfolio accessible on the TripAdisor instant booking platform.

Starwood to expand in NY state: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide will grow its portfolio in New York state from 12 to 22 hotels by the end of 2018 across its Aloft, Element and four Points brands.

 


Loews buys in Seattle: Loews Hotels & Resorts entered into an agreement to purchase the 120-room Hotel 1000 in Seattle for an undisclosed price. The acquisition is expected to close on January 28 and the hotel will be rebranded to Loews Regency Seattle in 2017. The acquisition marks Loews’ first venture into Seattle.

 


Google rolls out trip planning on mobile: Google launched trip planning capabilities on mobile, enabling users to get destination details on flights, hotels, restaurants, points of interest, weather and other general information. The information has always been available in Google’s ecosystem but now exists on mobile.
