Hot Openings: Boston hotel pays homage to building’s history

Set to open to the public on February 3, The Godfrey Hotel Boston will debut in the Armory and Black Buildings in the city’s Downtown Crossing community. Designed by Finegold Alexander Architects and The Gettys Group, the hotel’s façade has been completely restored to pay tribute to the century-old Boston buildings.

The Godfrey Hotel Boston’s lobby features a 16-foot (4.88-meter) ceiling and connects to the property’s 242 guestrooms. Also situated within the lobby, Cicchetti at Godfrey offers classic Italian cocktails and Italian small plates – inspired by cicchetti bars across northern Italy, particularly Venice.

Guestrooms are intended to offer guests a tranquil urban escape with a neutral color scheme, tailored carpeting, luxury bedding and upholstered seating. The hotel is also first in Boston-area and the U.S. to offer InnSpire’s Guest Media Streaming technology, allowing guests to use personal mobile devices to stream photos, videos, and music of their choice directly to the HDTV in their rooms.

Coming later in 2016, The Godfrey Hotel Boston is partnering with George Howell Coffee to establish a new café accessible through the hotel lobby. The hotel will also welcome a street-level restaurant and bar in collaboration with Boston restaurateurs.
