Hot Openings: Kimpton debuts in Austin

Kimpton recently debuted in Austin, Texas, with the opening of Hotel Van Zandt. The music-centric hotel was designed by Mark Zeff for “cultural tastemakers” and “world explorers.” The hotel’s focus on authenticity, local sourcing and the spirit of travel are reflected throughout its design, amenities and guest services.

Blue and gray hues blended with brushed bronze and slightly worn wood are found in the hotel’s 319 rooms and 41 suites. The property is also the first hotel in Austin to offer a fiber Internet connection, and each room has complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi along with Bluetooth speakers. A complimentary yoga mat is placed in every room.

The hotel’s restaurant, Geraldine’s, is led by Executive Chef Frank Mnuk, and serves crafted cocktails and Texas-inspired cuisine. The restaurant doubles as an entertainment venue where guests can catch popular musicians every night.

Additional amenities include 12,000 square feet (3,657.6 square meters) of event and meeting space, a fitness center, daily social hours in the lobby and a coffee shop.
