BridgeStreet launches Mode Aparthotel

BridgeStreet Global Hospitality Wednesday introduced a serviced-apartment brand called Mode Aparthotel by BridgeStreet. The new brand aims to attract travelers who are “connected, creative and crave community” and will retrofit existing building into apartments with a 24-hour front desk/concierge.

The company is in a joint agreement with real estate developer CGI Strategies, to develop five to 10 Mode properties—renovations of existing structures—in the U.S. to be operated by BridgeStreet. Planned locations include Boston, New York, Chicago, London, Washington, D.C., and Paris.

Aparthotel’s first U.S. location, in Washington, D.C., is in a five-story building on DuPont Circle. There will be 46 apartments, bar and restaurant, workout facilities and a roof-top lounge. Europe’s first Mode, scheduled to open in Q3 2016, is in Paris’s 16th Arrondisement near the Arc de Triomphe. There will be 47 keys, plus a breakfast room, guest lounge and fitness suite.

“We are here to be a part of the community, work with the local vendors and recommend the best establishments,” said Sean Worker, BridgeStreet Global Hospitality president and CEO, in a press release.

“There is currently a gap in the industry that we can fill.  These apartments give travelers more than a traditional hotel or extended stay apartment, they have the best of both in great communities,” Gidi Cohen, founder and CEO of CGI, said. “We believe in the value proposition of the serviced apartment model and the Mode model goes beyond the sticks and bricks of the property, it is designed to include local flavor.”

BridgeStreet operates more than 50,000 apartments in over 60 countries.
