News in brief: Wyndham, Starwood, Oklahoma growth

Wyndham reports Q4, full year 2015 results: Wyndham Worldwide Corp. reported fourth quarter 2015 net income was US$140 million, compared with US$81 million for the same period in 2014. Fourth quarter domestic RevPAR increased 2.9%.  In constant currency, total systemwide RevPAR was flat compared with the fourth quarter of 2014, which reflects higher unit growth in lower RevPAR countries such as China. Revenues for full year 2015 were US$5.5 billion, an increase of 5% over the prior year period.

Starwood grows Aloft in UK: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide entered into a franchise agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion to open a new Aloft hotel the UK. The 150-room Aloft Brighton is scheduled to open in September 2017 and will be the brand’s fourth hotel in the UK.

Downtown OKC to see growth: Horwath HTL reports that the Bricktown/Downtown Oklahoma City area will experience “significant” hotel and tourism-related development in the next several years. Two hotels are under construction and at least seven hotels are in the planning stages.

 


Dusit signs in China: Dusit Fudu Hotels & Resorts signed a strategic management agreement in the Hainan Province of China. Dusit Devarana Resort, Haikou West, is set to open in 2018 and will include 180 guestrooms and villas.

Jannah breaks ground in Dubai: In partnership with Al Rubayeh Group, Jannah Hotels and Resorts began construction on a 152-room hotel in Dubai. Jannah Creek Dubai is scheduled to open in 2018.
