Hyatt Centric, GrubHub team in food delivery

Hyatt Centric hotels are piloting a program with mobile food-ordering service GrubHub to deliver meals to guests.

Starting today, guests at three Centric hotels in the U.S. can order meals via either the front desk or a Hyatt page on the GrubHub app; charges are applied to their room. The food is delivered to the hotel lobby and front-desk staff deposits it at the guest’s door. Guests can view an in-room menu and on the app to choose among dishes from local restaurants suggested by GrubHub and Centric staffers, but they can order from any restaurant they like.

The Hyatt Centrics participating in the program are in Miami; Long Beach, California; and Park City, Utah. Chicago is due to join the program as well.

Data compiled by GrubHub suggest that hotel takeout orders jumped in popularity by 125% from 2011-2014, and that on average, hotel diners spent about 11% more per order than non-hotel diners.

The partnership is part of the brand’s “Restaurant To Go” concept, which includes Express Menus that are available 24 hours a day and ready in 20 minutes or less, and in-room delivery from hotel restaurants.
