Park Hyatt gets bookish for kids

The Park Hyatt New York is collaborating with publisher Phaidon to offer children’s books to young guests.

The “Feed Your Mind” program offers kids an activity pack at check-in that was inspired by Can I Eat That?, by food critic Joshua David Stein. Young diners in the hotel restaurant, The Back Room, will receive tableside book service during three daily meal services with a special book course that mimics the traditional cheese service. Instead of cheese on a rolling cart, kids will be able to look through Phaidon books aimed at ages 2-12 on a vintage library cart.

Kids can choose something to read as part of a book course at The Back Room.

The new menu will be presented on a placemat using the art of Julia Rothman from Stein’s book. And a bedtime “prix fixe” of milk, cookies and a book will help kids wind down at the end of the day.
