Booking.com Messages: OTA Booking.com announced the release of Booking Messages, a communication platform that allows customers and accommodation provides to connect directly and manage common requests like check-in and check-out times, bed preferences and parking.

Chief millennials officer: The St. Regis Mexico City has hired a chief millennials officer. The hotel says that more than half of the hotel’s employees and 32% of worldwide guests fall into the 18- to-33-year-old demographic. Alejandra Ramirez, 26, is taking the CMO role, which aims to identify services important for younger travelers.

Aloft in Seoul: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced the signing of the Aloft Seoul Myeongdong, the second hotel in Seoul, South Korea. The 223-room new-build will open early next year.

 


HVS’ Sipple: Bill Sipple, executive managing director of HVS Capital Corp., passed away. Sipple held positions with Ramada, Starwood and Carlson before joining HVS , where he had expertise in hotel operations, franchise consulting and development, and hospitality financial investment. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

 


Lima boutique: Australian travel company Chimu Adventures is investing more than US$5 million to renovate a 1920s mansion in Lima, Peru, as a boutique hotel. The 17-room property is in the city’s Barranco neighborhood, and work is scheduled to be completed by November.
