Hot Openings: Langham Haikou debuts in China

Hong Kong-based Langham Hospitality Group debuts its newest hotel, The Langham, Haikou in Hainan, China, on May 28.

The 248-room, 14-story hotel with views of the South China Sea was designed by U.S.-based architects SRSS. The rooms and suites feature commissioned art and plush textiles, in a palette of creams and gold. The 356-square-meter Chairman Suite features two bedrooms with unobstructed views of the sea, and separate sitting, dining and cooking areas. The main en-suite bathroom features an oversized jacuzzi.

The hotel features several restaurants including the Atelier, with floor-to-ceiling windows, features an open kitchen, smoke house and an oyster and champagne bar; a Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant, T’ang Court, with glass-enclosed wine cellar and private dining rooms; the casual Star Bar & Restaurant, set in an English-style garden; and the Palm Court, where the signature Langham Afternoon Tea with Wedgwood is served. With its Art Deco motifs, the lobby bar Liquary also serves as a library and lounge.

The hotel’s naturally lit meeting spaces and venues cover more than 1,564 square meters including one grand ballroom and three multi-function rooms, spacious ballroom foyer, VIP room and bridal suite. The award-winning Chuan Spa offers therapies based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine and includes five private treatment rooms, featuring steam room and jacuzzi, a foot massage treatment room.
