News in brief: Carlson Rezidor, Starwood, loyalty programs

Rezidor signs in China, Miami: Carlson Rezidor signed a management agreement for Radisson Suzhou in China with Suzhou Zheng He Investment Co., Ltd. Radisson Suzhou is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2017. Carlson Rezidor also signed a new Radisson RED in Miami. Radisson RED Miami Airport is expected to break ground this fall with plans to open in 2018. The hotel is being developed by Miami based Riviera Point Development Group and will be managed by Carlson Rezidor.

 


Starwood grows in Australia: Starwood Hotel & Resorts Worldwide signed an agreement with joint venture partners, Frasers Property Australia and Sekisui House Australia, to open Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Central Park. The 297-room new build hotel is scheduled to open in 2018 as part of a mixed-use development.

U.S. marketers to increase loyalty investment: New research from eMarketer suggests that the majority of U.S. marketers intend to allocate more of their budgets to customer loyalty in 2017, with 13% reporting that they anticipate “significant increases” in spending on such programs.

Maritim expands Chinese collection: Maritim Hotels signed two properties in China, increasing its Chinese portfolio to five hotels. The 300-key Maritim Hotel Hangzhou and the 355-key Maritim Hotel Hefei will both be new builds and are expected to open in 2017.

Hotel Equities to manage in Miami: Hotel Equities will management the new Residence Inn by Marriott Miami Beach-Surfside. The 175-suite hotel is owned by HDP-TLD Partners.
