Study tracks consumers’ changing hotel behavior

American hotel bookers spent nearly 25% more time on their hotel path to purchase than their flight plan to purchase, according to travel tech company Sojern.

That’s one of the results of the San Francisco-based company’s “2015 Hotel Insights Report,” which includes information about seasonal and regional shifts in hotel searches. Sojern works with travel brands and hotels.

Other findings:

  • More than half of all hotel searches are conducted in the two weeks before the booking.
  • While only 2% of all hotel searches conducted by Americans and Europeans alike are three or less days in advance, 5% of hotel bookings are made for last minute stays.
