Clever brand extension from Mama Shelter

As an extension of its hotel brand, the leadership of Mama Shelter is launching Mama’s Kiss, a colorful and character-driven café with an attached unique function space.

Riding the wave of success of Mama Shelter in Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Los Angeles, and the very soon to be open Mama Rio, the first Mama’s Kiss opened this week in Bordeaux, France, described “the kind of place that you have been looking for but have never quite managed to find: an eye-catching, welcoming space where you can tuck into crêpes, waffles and sandwiches, all lovingly prepared by the Mama Shelter teams and the man who needs no introduction: the triple Michelin-starred Chef Guy Savoy. And of course it’s all homemade!”

A Mama Shelter spokesperson told HOTELS there are plans to roll out the café concept into cities where it operates hotels.

Its coffee has been created by French coffee roaster Terres de Café and is made exclusively from beans grown on 100% Arabica plantations. It is sourced mainly from the “Finca El Manzano” in Salvador and selected for their body and dominant chocolate flavor, accompanied by yellow bourbons from the “Fazenda Ambiantal Fortaleza” in Brazil.

Mama’s Kiss also serves Italian sorbets and ice creams, also homemade in partnership with local artisan ice cream brand M&O.

On the ground floor of the café is a bar to place orders, a varied selection of drinks, a boutique with fun takeaways, candy machines, a photo/video booth and, along with some 30 indoor seats, an outdoor dining space. In addition, old cartoons are always running on two TVs.
