News in brief: Meliá, Four Seasons, Priceline’s biz bet

Meliá strategy update: Meliá Hotels released a statement on its commitment to renovating and repositioning its hotels, saying that it reached a point where it had to decide whether to “renovate or die.” It chose investment, and over the past five years it has renovated 11 of its hotels at a cost of more than €150 million (US$166.7 million).

Four Seasons in Seychelles: Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is developing the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island, its second in the Seychelles. The existing property will be renovated and will reopen in 2017 with 40 beach suites and 11 villas, two restaurants, a bar and spa.

 


Seeking Alpha on Priceline: Website Seeking Alpha says travel booking site Priceline’s next growth move—via its new Booking.com for Business—could come from the corporate travel segment, which it says it largely overlooked but represents half of global travel demand.
