A backyard barbecue on the road

TownePlace Suites by Marriott is offering guests an amenity that they previously could only get in their own backyard: a barbecue grill.

The company’s extended-stay hotel brand has partnered with grill manufacturer Weber-Stephen Products of Palatine, Illinois, to put grills on the patios of more than 100 hotels in the U.S. and Canada. The hotels will provide tools, seasoning and even recipes such as All-American Steakburgers or corn on the cob with basil-parmesan butter, but it’s BYOM (bring your own meat) for the guests.

“Many of our guests are business travelers, and we’re always looking for that personal touch and clever detail to help them relax and feel at home, whether they’re staying with us for one day, one week or one month,” said Loren Nalewanski, vice president and global brand manager of TownePlace Suites.

“This partnership allows Weber to be a part of expanding that ‘home on the road’ experience to include outdoor grilling in the ‘backyard’,” said Melissa Enos, vice president, Americas marketing, Weber-Stephen.

Hotel associates will be trained in grill operation and cooking to provide help where needed.
