Presidential suite of amenities from D.C. hotel

It might be a bit of a stretch to call the current political season in the U.S. fun, but one Washington, D.C., hotel is taking a “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” approach.

From now until November 8, the Dupont Circle hotel, part of the Doyle Collection, is offering a Slice of the City: Your Vote, Your Stay packages—and guests can tailor the package to their own political sensibilities.

The Democratic party experience includes, among other amenities, lunch for two at the Bar Dupont with cheeseburgers, Bill Clinton’s cheat meal on offer; two tickets to The Spy Museum’s exhibition of James Bond, who claims John F. Kennedy as a fan, a copy of “Casablanca,” President Barack Obama’s favorite movie.

The Republican package includes hand-rolled cigars similar to the ones Ulysses S. Grant enjoyed; a US$150 gift card to Brooks Brothers, where Abraham Lincoln had his suits made; a Teddy bear named Theodore Roosevelt; and the jelly beans Ronald Reagan favored.

All guests are created equal, though, when it comes to price: US$629 for a minimum two-night stay.
