Growth in London, STR: STR’s preliminary July 2016 data for London indicated performance growth driven by rate. Year-over-year comparisons include a 2.8% increase in supply, 3.1% increase in demand, a 0.2% increase in occupancy to 88.4%, a 3.7% increase in ADR to GBP156.67 (US$202.36) and a 4% increase in RevPAR to GBP138.51 (US$178.90). Analysts credit the performance to the Wimbledon Championships and the biennial Farnborough International Airshows.

Blasts hit Thai resort towns: A series of blasts hit three popular tourist resorts on Friday, including Hua Hin, as well as towns in southern Thailand on Thursday and Friday, killing four people and wounding dozens. While no group has claimed responsibility, though suspicion reportedly could fall on insurgents in Muslim-majority provinces in southern Thailand.
