Suit filed against Expedia: A California hotel operator has filed suit against Expedia that alleges that it buys search and social media advertising for properties not listed on it websites. The complaint was filed by the operator of the Buckeye Tree Lodge and Sequoia Village Inn in Three Rivers, California, and suggests that the OTA attempts to get interested customers to book with one of its partner hotels instead.

July’s U.S. hotel performance, STR: According to recent data from STR, the U.S. hotel industry reported mixed results during July. Compared with July 2015, the U.S. hotel industry’s occupancy decreased 1% to 74.4%. However, ADR for the month was up 3.6% to US$128.77, and RevPAR grew 2.5% to US$95.81.

 


Development in Huntington Beach: Shopoff Realty Investments acquired a 28.6-acre (11.6-hectare) parcel of land in Huntington Beach, California, for US$26.5 million. The Irvine, California-based company intends to redevelop the property into a resort, commercial and residential development.
