Lightstone acquires in Salt Lake City, Seattle: Lightstone Value Plus Real Estate Investment Trust III, Inc., acquired two Home2 Suites by Hilton: a 125-key hotel in Salt Lake City/South Jordan, Utah, for US$19.25 million and a 139-key hotel near the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for US$28 million. Lightstone entered into a long-term franchise agreement with Hilton for both properties. The properties will be managed by Island Hospitality and overseen by Lightstone’s hospitality division.
Interval, Mega Vacations Club affiliation: Megapolis Investment Group selected Interval International’s global exchange network for its Mega Vacations Club in Panama. The club includes more than 1,500 units consisting of the Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis and the Radisson Decapolis Hotel, both in the Punta Paitilla área of Panama City.
Union strikes in Quebec City: Four Quebec City hotel unions have agreed to launch a 72-hour strike “at the appropriate time.” The decision was made by union members from the Hilton Quebec, Delta Quebec, Hotel Pur Quebec and Hotel Classique. Demands include “holiday compensation, wage increases and coverage in the event of job loss due to a closed department or technological change.”
