What’s Hot: NYC’s Maritime debuts new look

The Maritime in New York City recently revealed its renovation that intends to reflect the West Chelsea neighborhood. Originally opened in 2013, the hotel’s redesign aimed to stay true to its roots while incorporating a plush new environment.

The new retro-nautical lobby is meant to feel like a lounge of a luxury ocean liner. A new stone fireplace from the South of France anchors the lobby’s north wall and includes inlaid textures marble imported from Brazil. The lobby’s ceiling was redone with narrow-slatted cerused oak beams and also features updated lighting fixtures.

The lobby also includes the addition of La Sirena, an “elevated trattoria” from Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich.

The Maritime’s lobby sofas have been reupholstered in fabric printed with instant-classic sketches of New York City subway scenes. Multi-colored velvet covers newly upholstered club chairs to contrast to the room’s earth and wood tones.
