Wall Street Journal reports that Airbnb has brought on Alphabet’s investment arm as a backer, part of an expected US$850 million funding round that will value the company US$30 billion. Google Capital and Technology Crossover Ventures led the round.
Additionally, employees who have been at the company for more than four years had the opportunity to sell common shares to investors. As part of the fundraising, about US$200 million of employee stock was sold.
Wall Street Journal also reports that Airbnb may accept additional funding from other investors.
