Qatar out of hotel talks: The Qatar Investment Authority ended talks to buy London’s Grosvenor House Hotel and the Dream Downtown and Plaza hotels in New York. India-based Sahara Group, the hotels’ owner, has been attempting to sell the assets in order to extricate its founder, Subrata Roy, from jail. That leaves one active bid for the properties.

Emaar in Dubai: Emaar Hospitality unveiled plans for its first beachfront Dubai resort under its Address brand. The resort will have 182 hotel rooms and serviced residences in an unusually shaped building. No opening date was given.

Trump data breach: Donald Trump’s hotel chain agreed to pay a US$50,000 penalty and overhaul data security policies after several breaches exposed 70,000 credit card numbers and other personal information. The hotel company knew about the breaches in June 2015 but did not notify customers for nearly four months.
