IHG, Novum to develop European hotels

InterContinental Hotels Group and Hamburg, Germany-based Novum Hotel Group of Germany signed an agreement to develop 20 hotels in European markets including Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.

Novum, which has 99 hotels in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, will develop franchised hotels in the partnership with IHG, which has more than 650 hotels in Europe, including 64 hotels in Germany.

“Europe is growing at pace and we are well positioned to take advantage of the appetite for branded growth,” Rob Shepherd, IHG’s chief development officer in Europe, said.

David Etmenan, CEO and owner of Novum Group, said franchise partnerships are key to its international expansion.
