Statement on Hurricane Matthew, Marriott: Marriott International issued the following statement on Hurricane Matthew:

Marriott International, Inc. is closely monitoring the track of Hurricane Matthew and the potential impact on our hotels in the projected path. We have well-established hurricane plans and our hotel teams are well-versed in implementing these plans.  In addition, we are in close contact with local authorities and, as always, will take guidance and direction from them if the situation warrants it. The safety and security of our guests and employees is always a top priority at Marriott.

Our hotels in Jamaica, Haiti, and Cuba have reported no direct impact from the storm. These hotels are all open and accepting guests and reservations.

For information regarding reservations, please call (800) 228-9290. Those in countries outside of the United States seeking information about the impact of the storm should call the Marriott International toll-free number in their country.

 


Rocco Forte adds second in Rome: Rocco Forte Hotels will add the 192-room Hotel de la Ville in Rome. The currently closed property will undergo a “top-down renovation” that will reduce its guestroom count to 105. The hotel is expected to reopen at the end of 2018 and will mark Rocco Forte’s second property in Rome.

Jucy debuts in New Zealand: Jucy opened the first of its pod hotels chain in Christchurch, New Zealand. The new 271 bed “micro accommodation” concept aims to relieve the chronic room shortage in Christchurch. The self-contained accommodation capsules or pods feature beds, storage lockers a power supply and WiFi.
