What’s Hot: Sneak peek at The Strand Yangon’s refurb

Set to reopen in November, The Strand Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar, is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment. Originally constructed in 1901 in a classic colonial style, the hotel is retaining its heritage architectural details while incorporating a contemporary twist with a refreshed color palette and other decorative details.

The interiors of all the hotel’s 31 suites still reflect The Strand’s style and elegance, while at the same time updated with the latest technology, including new air conditioning, sound and communications systems.

The Strand Restaurant will be led by a new executive chef, Christian Martena, while the Strand Café will serve a menu of Burmese and Western dishes for breakfast and lunch as well as the historic Strand afternoon tea.  The café’s traditional rattan furniture and black lacquer ceiling fans will also feature a new color palette. Sarkies Bar is also being refurbished and an extensive selection of whiskeys and single malts will be added to the menu.
