AHS to open in Vietnam: Absolute Hotel Services will open a new branded property in the Bin Thuan province of Vietnam in late 2017. U Mui Ne Vietnam will include 108 rooms and villas, a restaurant, a swimming pool with beach bar, meeting space, a gym and a spa.

HRI wins Tampa bid: HRI Properties was selected as the winning bidder to acquire a city-owned block in downtown Tampa, Florida. HRI’s plans include a US$120 million 21-story, mixed-used tower with a 223-room Hyatt Centric Hotel, 225 apartments, retail space and a 408-car garage.

 


Rotana grows in Saudi: Rotana will open five hotels under its Centro by Rotana brand in Saudi Arabia by the end of 2017. The planned hotels include: Centro Waha, Riyadh; Centro Olaya, Riyadh; Centro Corniche, Al Khobar; and Centro Salama, Jeddah.

Mira Hong Kong, Mira Moon Hotel join SPG: The Mira Hong Kong and Mira Moon Hotel have joined the Starwood Preferred Guest Program. As part of the partnership, SPG members staying at the properties can take advantage of SPG benefits, including Wi-Fi, bottles of water and complimentary room upgrades.

 


Trump’s D.C. hotel rates, vacancies: New York Magazine reports that the recently opened Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., has been experiencing empty rooms which has led the hotel to reduce rates during an otherwise peak season. The break-even rate on most rooms would be more than US750 per night, however, as recent as this past weekend, room rates have dipped under US$500 per night.
