Briefs: Ascott, Dubai data, Four Seasons

Ascott in KSA. CapitaLand’s The Ascott Limited continues to extend its footprint in the Middle East by clinching contracts to manage another three properties in Saudi Arabia, including its first in Makkah. The 280-unit Ascott Makkah, 92-unit Ascott Villas Riyadh and 69-unit Spectrums Residence in Jeddah are all slated to open in 2017. In addition, Ascott is set to open Ascott Rafal Olaya Riyadh, its first serviced residence in the capital.

 


Another Dubai milestone. Dubai has reached 100,000 rooms across its hotels and hotel apartments following the soft opening of The Westin Dubai in Al Habtoor City. Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing said it expects occupied room nights in hotels and hotel apartments to reach 35.9 million, a 10.8% compound annual growth rate from the end of 2015 to the end of 2018. As a result, room supply is set to reflect similar growth, reaching 134,000 rooms by the end of 2018. Dubai Tourism also said it expected occupancy rates until 2018 to be maintained at around 77%.

 


New Four Seasons. Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and retailer Alshaya on Monday announced plans for a 284-room Four Seasons in downtown Kuwait City. Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya will open in early 2017 as part of Alshaya’s new Burj Alshaya mixed-use development that will feature two soaring glass towers.

 


Carlson by the Boardwalk. Radisson is adding The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, to its portfolio as part of a new partnership agreement. Now known as The Claridge – A Radisson Hotel, the historic property, set on Atlantic City’s fabled Boardwalk, is now part of the Radisson brand.

 


Home town treatment. Meliá Hotels International will manage Palma de Mallorca’s new conference center, Palacio de Congresos de Palma, as well as connecting hotel, Meliá Palma Bay, located on the promenade of Palma de Mallorca.. The hotels will have 268 rooms, a bar, restaurant, spa, additional meeting rooms and a swimming pool.
