News in brief: Hersha, Dalata, Wyndham

Hersha acquires two: Hersha Hospitality Trust is acquiring two hotels – the Sunnyvale Courtyard by Marriott and the Ambrose Hotel in Santa Monica, both in California – for a combined US$75 million. The seller was not named. The deal is expected to close at year-end.

 


Dalata in Cardiff: Dalata Hotel Group of Ireland acquired Rush Limited, which holds the freehold interest of the Clayton Hotel Cardiff, for £24 million.

 


Wyndham expands rewards: Wyndham Worldwide is expanding its rewards redemption program to include the Wyndham Destination Network and Wyndham Vacation Ownership properties, which together include 17,000 condos and homes.

 


Kicking up development on football hotel: Former Manchester United players Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville are partnering with Singaporean billionaire Peter Lim to bring their Hotel Football and themed café to Asia. The first Café Football will open in 2017 in Singapore and the group aims to build 5,000 hotel rooms over the next five to 10 years.

Restaurant expansion: Disruptive Restaurant Group, a subsidiary of SBE, is taking its Mediterranean restaurant, Cleo, to 15 Middle Eastern locations in 2017 including the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. It’s partnering with franchise operator M.H. Alshaya, with whom it earlier expanded its Katsuya restaurant brand in that region.

 


Marriott in Slough: Two hotels to be built in the UK city of Slough will be run by Marriott International: a 144-room Moxy and a 92-room Residence Inn, both of which will be operated under a single lease in the same building. The hotels will be developed by Cycas Hospitality.

Bali resort: Absolute Hotel Services Group announced a new property, the U Paasha Canggu Bali. The 110-room resort is scheduled to open in late 2018. It’s the company’s third property in Asia.

 


Leonardo in Amsterdam: Leonardo Hotels plans a hotel in Amsterdam’s Overamstel district. A 19-floor building will be developed to house the 493-room hotel, whose completion is planned for 2018.
