Hot Openings: London Marriott County Hall’s transformation

Marriott Hotels celebrated the grand re-opening of its London Marriott Hotel County Hall after a multimillion-pound renovation. The 206-room hotel on London’s South Bank updated its public areas and guestrooms, many with views of the Thames, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye. The hotel reopened in early November.

Led by RPW Design, interiors combine contemporary design and the building’s heritage. All suites include upgraded bathroom facilities, entrances with tiled mosaic flooring and bespoke wallpaper featuring a historic map of London from the era of the building’s infancy. Plays on London landmarks and nods to the building’s history include orange chairs pay homage to the seating used in the chamber of the former London County Council and bowler hat prints on curtain fabrics.

The hotel offers a health club with a 25-meter pool, the biggest hotel pool in London, fine British dining at Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar, the Noes Lobby Champagne bar, the Leader’s Bar and outside terrace, and afternoon tea in the Library Lounge. Business and rewards members have a new Executive Lounge with riverside views and complimentary amenities. The hotel also offers 10 event and meeting rooms.
