Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara opened earlier this month in Oman.
The resort, bordering the historic Al Baleed UNESCO archaeological site in southern Oman, also is located near other cultural offerings including wadis dotted with frankincense, coconut-fringed beaches and tropical greenery during the summer monsoon season.
Alongside the Arabian Sea, the resort has been designed with the simple grandeur of the region’s coastal fortresses in mind. The buildings are surrounded by tropical gardens, with walkways framed by 750 coconut palms and water features. The resort comprises 136 guestrooms and villas offering views of the ocean, lagoon or picturesque gardens. The 40 premier and deluxe rooms offer handcrafted furnishings in rich textures. The eight one-bedroom villas and 88 one- and two-bedroom pool villas offer personalized service and separate living areas. The pool villas offer private temperature-controlled swimming pools.
The resort offers three dining venues, including all-day restaurant Sakalan, featuring world flavors and open kitchens. An Asian restaurant, Mekong, has Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine. Al Mina is a relaxed Mediterranean beach bar and restaurant serves cocktails, barbecued food and shisha.
