What’s Hot: Kimpton Shorebreak installs climbing wall

Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel has put a twist on the traditional hotel fitness center with a 40-foot-wide climbing wall.

Located on the patio just outside of the fitness center of the Huntington Beach, California, hotel, the climbing wall gives guests an opportunity to experience a change of pace from their regular exercise routines.

In addition to the climbing wall, the recently renovated 1,600-square-foot space incorporates treadmills, truck tires, squat rack, kettlebells, medicine balls, resistance bands, power racks and more.

The design draws elements from Huntington Beach’s vibrant, laid-back coastal neighborhood, with marine colors and textures throughout the space, along with artwork. The center’s design inspiration comes from themes of water, sky, wood, weather, light and surfing, and are mixed with the industrial feel of a vintage gym. Instead of the standard mirrors in front of the cardio machines, the gym features a multi-panel mural with imagery of Huntington Beach Pier, created by Seattle mixed-media artist Brooke Westlund.
