Airbnb gets tough: Airbnb set an automatic limit to the number of nights hosts can rent out their homes in London (90 days a year) and Amsterdam (60 days a year). Longer periods will require a license. The home-sharing site has faced increased pressure from municipalities.

Deutsche in Egypt: Deutsche Hospitality is adding a hotel in Egypt: The 158-room Steigenberger Hotel El Lessan Ras El-Bar, on a peninsula between the Mediterranean Sea and the Damietta Nile Branch, will open in 2018.

 


Shelborne under new management: Menin Hospitality has taken over management of the Shelborne South Beach in Miami, replacing Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, which had operated the hotel for about three years. The ownership group of the 200-room hotel, which includes Flag Luxury Group, developer Russell Galbut and other partners, had recently invested more than US$150 million in the property.

JV in NOLA: HRI Properties and investment firm Rockbridge formed a joint venture to acquire the Country Inn & Suites New Orleans French Quarter. HRI subsidiary HRI Lodging will manage the 155-room hotel, which will be renovated and repositioned in mid-2017.
