Mövenpick Accra acquired: Quantum Global’s Africa Hotel fund acquired the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra, Ghana, from Kingdom Holding. The US$100 million transaction closed in December.

Next stop, Margaritaville: Ocean Properties Ltd. & Affiliates and Margaritaville Holdings is rebranding the Westin Resort & Marina located in Florida’s Key West to the Margaritaville Key West Resort & Marina.

 


Hyatt House sold: A joint venture of Sage Hospitality and Whitman Peterson has sold the 126-room Hyatt House in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Schulte Hospitality for an undisclosed amount. 

 


Expedia ends Italy experiment: Expedia shut down its Italy-based hotel-booking site, Venere.com, as of December, according to multiple news reports. The travel booking site acquired the company in 2008 and was aiming to develop it into a competitor to Booking.com. Venere’s B-to-B component, which offers a commission to travel agents, will continue.

 


Aparthotels adds Brighton: Supercity Aparthotels purchased a 26,372-square-foot city center site in Brighton. It’s the fourth in England (the others are in London). The property will have 65 apartments and a restaurant over four stories.

 


Provenance in Portland: Provenance Hotels will open a new 205-room hotel, Dossier, in downtown Portland this summer.

 


Georgian under new management: Pacifica Hotels, a hotel owner and operator along the U.S. Pacific coast, has assumed management of The Georgian in Santa Monica, California. The hotel is owned by 4DS Inc. and is being renovated; renovations are expected to be complete this spring.
